Bloody October
A collection of chilling tales inspired by the haunted season.

Submission Guidelines

If you haven't figured it out by now, Bloody October is a short story anthology inspired by the aforesaid month.  Stories featuring demented clowns, undead dolls, and possessed scarecrows are all welcome.  I am especially looking for halloween-esque stories that involve terrifying new beasties.  However, that does not mean I want a remake of John Carpenter's Halloween.  Originality is a must.

Length:

All stories must be between 3000 and 8000 words.  If you have something that falls into the 9000 word category, query first.  Shorter works will not be considered.

Format:

• 12 point times new roman or courier font.
• Single spaced.
• Write "bloody october sub" in the subject line, or risk having your short story considered for Midnight Horror ezine instead.
• Send as an attached word or .rtf file.
• Provide your name, email address, word count, story title, and a short bio in the body of your email.
• Please please please include the title and your name in the manuscript.  We are saying this is because we have come across submissions without this information in the past, and it is a headache to straighten out.
• Other than that, we're not too picky.

Payment:

The downside is that we can't pay you professional rates like some of the other guys.  The upside is that you will be featured in a freaking cool print anthology that will kick major ass!  And not just human ass either.  We're talking grab-your-chainsaw-and-go-zombie-hunting type ass-kicking.
In other words, payment is $10.00 (via paypal).

Response Time:

Somewhere between two weeks and two months, depending on the volume of submissions and the editor's involvement with the Midnight Horror ezine.

Other Generic Information:

Bloody October is going to be a paperback book printed through lulu.com, with a shiny new ISBN and everything.  Since we are not planning on making a fortune from sales, we will use the profits to fund upcoming projects.  So please don't ask for royalties.  If you do, that will make us cry.

Release Date: October 2008.
